MISSION STATEMENT

Vigil & Valor is a grassroots civic organization based in Hampton Roads, Virginia, dedicated to supporting, protecting, and organizing peaceful protest movements. We believe that local voices deserve to be heard and protected.

Our mission is to empower the Hampton Roads community through rapid-response mobilization, community safety, and localized advocacy, especially during times of civic unrest or urgent need for action.

Community Safety at Peaceful Marches
We’ve recently partnered with local organizers to provide volunteer safety teams during peaceful demonstrations in Norfolk and Virginia Beach, helping ensure protestors had a secure, supportive space to be heard.

Rapid Response to Legislative Actions
In June, we mobilized within 24 hours to organize a rally in front of City Hall following the introduction of a state bill impacting protest rights. Over 300 community members showed up in peaceful solidarity.

Mutual Aid and Resource Drives
In May, we organized a Community Aid Pop-Up to support protestors and families. Volunteers distributed bottled water, masks, hand sanitizer, and “Know Your Rights” materials. The event ensured residents had essentials to stay safe and informed while engaging in civic action.

Do you work outside Hampton Roads?

Our primary focus is Hampton Roads, but we collaborate with other movements across Virginia and beyond when support is needed or when our values align.
